EHang Expands European & Hong Kong Activities

EHang announced today (January 28) that it has signed a strategic memorandum of cooperation (MoU) with the Spanish Royal Automobile Club (Real Automóvil Club de España; RACE) to explore collaboration in urban air mobility, motorsport innovation and next-generation transportation services.
Under the MoU, the partners plan to combine RACE’s experience in motorsports operations, safety management, training and infrastructure with EHang’s eVTOL aircraft and advanced air mobility (AAM) systems.
Activities include testing and verification, demonstration flights, ecosystem development and public outreach related to AAM and sustainable mobility.
As part of the framework, EHang and RACE intend to conduct demonstration and verification flights in controlled environments, including operational tests at the Madrid Jarama–RACE Circuit.
Plans call to engage with public authorities and industry stakeholders on airworthiness, safety and regulatory topics, while promoting public understanding of AAM through education and science communication initiatives.
In a separate development, Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department has accepted a sandbox flight application submitted by EHang’s local partner, Kwoon Chung Group, under the government’s Regulatory Sandbox X trial program.
According to EHang, the framework is intended to support more complex operational scenarios, including cross-border routes and passenger-carrying eVTOL flights.
The program allows selected projects to operate outside certain existing regulatory constraints in controlled environments, allowing authorities and industry participants to assess airworthiness, safety management and operational concepts.
