From Auto to Aviation: JAC Group Joins EHang in Hefei Consortium
The trio formalized the partnership on February 24 to establish a joint venture aimed at accelerating the development and production of eVTOL aircraft and drones.
In a move to strengthen its role in the growing low-altitude economy, Hefei has secured a collaboration between EHang, automotive giant JAC Group, and state-backed Hefei Guoxian Holding Co., Ltd (合肥国轩控股).
The trio formalized the partnership on February 24 to establish a joint venture aimed at accelerating the development and production of eVTOL aircraft and drones.
The newly formed alliance will focus on developing Hefei's Low-Altitude Industrial Park in Baohe District, with plans to establish advanced, automated, and standardized production facilities.
EHang will contribute its experience in certified eVTOL systems, including the TC/PC/AC-certified EH216-S model. JAC Motors will bring its automotive manufacturing capabilities and intelligent connectivity technologies, while Hefei Guoxian Holding Co., Ltd., overseen by the government-backed International Advanced Technology Application Promotion Center (Hefei), will manage infrastructure development and drive industrial integration.
Initial efforts will concentrate on assembling aircraft and manufacturing critical aviation parts through standardized production and centralized procurement.
Looking ahead, the collaboration plans to expand its efforts in low-altitude aircraft R&D, component manufacturing, and raw material supply.

The initiative, announced by the Hefei Municipal Government in a press release, is part of the city’s broader strategy to position itself as a leader in the rapidly growing low-altitude economy, driving technological advancements in urban air mobility.
The goal is to establish a strong "Hefei-made" advantage in the low-altitude economy and foster the development of a new three-dimensional transportation ecosystem.
According to the local government, the International Advanced Technology Application Promotion Center has already attracted over 300 key enterprises, driving local R&D, production, testing, and drone operations.
The city has established the Municipal Flight Service Center and launched three research institutes specializing in low-altitude battery energy, flight control systems, and airworthiness certification.
Hefei is also playing a key role in drafting policies to support the growth of the low-altitude economy.
