Aerofugia Breaks Ground on Global Headquarters in Chengdu

December 12, 2024 — Geely’s subsidiary, Aerofugia, officially broke ground on its global headquarters base in Chengdu’s Future Science and Technology City, marking a key milestone as the company transitions from research and development to production.
The ceremony was attended by leaders from the China Civil Aviation Second Institute, the Civil Aviation Southwest Regional Administration Bureau, AVIC, and Chengdu High-Tech Zone, as well as partners from the supply chain and aviation industry.
Located near Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, the facility will be built in two phases. The first phase covers an area of 30 acres and will feature a 26,700-square-meter building. The design of the campus focuses on efficient use of space, integrating research, production, and office areas under one roof.
Once operational, the facility is expected to drive the development of the low-altitude economy in Chengdu, creating opportunities for collaboration across the aviation supply chain and fostering the growth of related industries.

According to Aerofugia, the new headquarters will house the largest and most powerful autoclave equipment in China's eVTOL production sector. Designed for manufacturing advanced composite material components, this equipment will provide precise temperature and pressure control, improving the density and strength of critical parts like the AE200's wings, panels, and tail fins.
The company also plans to introduce innovative production methods, including a multi-story manufacturing model that optimizes space utilization. This "industrial building-up" approach aims to enhance operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
In addition, the facility will incorporate several energy-saving measures, such as the use of eco-friendly building materials, energy-efficient lighting, and solar panels to generate a portion of its energy. The equipment will also feature variable frequency control technology, expected to reduce electricity consumption by an estimated 1.1 million kilowatt-hours annually.
Earlier this year, Aerofugia signed an agreement to set up its global headquarters in Chengdu. The company also completed Chengdu’s first low-altitude passenger transport flight.
Looking ahead, Aerofugia plans to leverage the industrial cluster effect in Chengdu to promote the “Made in Chengdu” low-altitude brand and expand its global presence. The company intends to grow its low-altitude transport services, including passenger flights, tourism, and emergency rescue, with its new headquarters as a central hub.
