Mexico Grants EHang EH216-S Flight Permit
May 1, 2026 — EHang announced that its EH216-S has received a flight permit from Mexico’s civil aviation regulator, the Agencia Federal de Aviación Civil (AFAC), and has completed a piloted demonstration flight in the country.
The flight took place at Tulum International Airport during the Mexican Aerospace Exhibition (FAMEX) Tulum Airshow, held from April 23–26, in partnership with local operator Air Mobility.
According to the company, the demonstration marks the first human passenger flight of an uncrewed eVTOL aircraft in Mexico and Latin America.
The demonstration follows earlier regulatory activity in Mexico.
In 2025, AFAC issued a Special Airworthiness Certificate for Unmanned Aircraft Systems for the EH216-S. An operational framework—covering the concept of operations, risk assessment, technical and airworthiness documentation, crew training, registration, and insurance—was developed with Air Mobility and EHang.
The eVTOL maker said it will continue working with Mexican authorities and partners to explore potential commercial applications, including connections between airports, urban centers, and tourist destinations.
