July 7, 2026 — U.S.-listed Ehang announced it has completed the first flight of its EH216-S autonmous eVTOL aircraft in Switzerland, bringing the total number of countries where the model has flown to 22.
The flight took place in Quinto, in the canton of Ticino, and was conducted with the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA), the local municipality, and Swiss project partner DroneVia.
Ehang said the Alpine environment is being used to test applications including passenger transport, eco-tourism, regional logistics, and emergency rescue, positioning the aircraft as a complement to existing ground-based transport networks.
DroneVia CEO Paolo Franchini was cited as saying the flight demonstrated the aircraft’s operational capabilities. Ticino State Council President Norman Gobbi noted the potential for uncrewed aircraft to address supply and logistics challenges in remote alpine areas.
Ehang Europe and Latin America COO Jing Xiang said the company plans further coordination with Swiss regulators and local partners to assess commercial pathways and supporting infrastructure development.
