Today, We Reach for the Moon! π¨π¦πΊπΈ
Live now!
Today is the day that many of us across the globe have been waiting for.
For the first time since the Apollo era, a crew is set to launch into deep spaceβand if all goes to plan, that moment comes this evening.
At Kennedy Space Center, the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft are on the pad, with four Artemis II astronauts prepping for their lunar flyby.
Their 10-day mission will take them around the far side of the Moon, farther from Earth than any humans have ever traveled.
Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialist Christina Koch will be joined by Canadian astronaut and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen, who will become the first Canadian to leave Earth orbit and venture into deep space.
The two-hour launch window opens at 6:24 p.m. Eastern.
For Canadians π¨π¦, this is one of those moments you'll remember where you were; one of our own is heading to the Moon!
Go Team Artemis! π¨π¦πΊπΈ
