The policy framework aims to advance sustainable infrastructure development while supporting national energy security and carbon neutrality goals.
Released on April 25, the framework comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping doubled down on China’s commitment to global climate goals and green development during his video address at the Leaders Meeting on Climate and the Just Transition on April 23.
The meeting was part of the virtual high-level segment of the 16th Petersberg Climate Dialogue, themed “Ten Years Paris Agreement: Turning Point to the Future – Enabling Collective Action and Accelerating Implementation.”
The dialogue brought together 17 heads of state and government from major economies like China and the European Union, along with leaders from regional organizations such as the African Union, ASEAN, the Alliance of Small Island States, and The Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
China’s policy framework for integrating transport and energy systems is outlined in detail below.
